Abstract
Errors of as much as 7o or 8o can result from the use of the Sight Reduction Tables for Air Navigation (AP 3270) in calculating the azimuth of a celestial body. A faster method is presented; involving a set of graphs, which will yield an accuracy of ~ 0.025o or better. The graphs are valid over most of the northern hemisphere. With a minor change in procedure they are also valid for most of the southern hemisphere.
