Abstract
The report provides a suite of technical support documentation for the CREO optical tape recorder now in use at DREA and for customized control software developed for it. The documentation includes an introduction to operating the CREO OTR hardware, from powering up the unit to loading/unloading tapes, creating user partitions and setting the OTR to a ready state prior to use. It includes a description of the newly developed Exabyte to CREO tape transcription software and related utilities. This PC-based software provides SCSI tape drive support under both the DOS/MS Windows operating systems. The documentation describes the available TCP/IP network support and concludes with a description of a number of tape support utilities written in IDL - a software package widely used in many scientific and engineering applications throughout the world.
