Abstract
The report presents the final results of a study on the feasiblity and usefulness of data fusion for the CP-140 Aurora maritime patrol aircraft. Relevant sensor fusion concepts and terminology have been defined along with a description of the CP-140 operational enviornment and information sources. An analysis of applicable sensor fusion processes is presented followed by a discussion on the expected performance improvements. Finally, a three step incremental approach is proposed with recoverable steps where different level of fusion sophistication can be implemented based on the availability of the technology and the actual status of the sensors on the aircraft.
