Abstract
The report includes discussions of the current status and SAR problems relating to visual searching, visual search models, dynamic visual requirements in SAR, and implications for improving visual search. The recommendations, which are intended to optimize visual search capability, involve modifications in training, search methods, human resources, and SAR facilities. The spectrum of information considered in the report indicates that unless the SAR organization can optimize all integral aspects of the system, the potential capability of visual search cannot be realized.
