- Abstract
- The purpose of this document is to describe the technological foundations which have been identified for the construction of a generic command and control information system development environment for air force related applications. The development foundation concept is based upon the building of a technologically up-to-date environment based on the use of advanced development tools and commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software components. The document contains four main sections described as follows: "Analysis of existing systems", provides an analysis of the existing systems which are either currently in place or under development. "Identification of funtions", to be developed, looks more closely at the generic functions a services to be developed within the CCIS foundation environment. This includes the re-development of a subset of CCIS functions under the MS-Windows platform as well as the peripheral software tools that such a system could exploit. "Data Modelling", addresses the problem of the data domains to be used in the foundation environment. The basis of this resides in the sub-functions to be prototyped under Windows. Additionally, the data domains handled by other applications are also examined in order to establish which data elements are in common. TRUNCATED
