Abstract
The study evaluates pelleted RDX-TNT-A1 as a cratering explosive by comparing it with other military, dry mix and slurried explosives. The evaluation is performed using single crater tests in silty clay, the explosives comparison being made on the basis of apparent crater dimensions and peak particle velocities generated. Craters were produced by firing eight 250 lb. charges of each explosive type buried at various scaled depths straddling the optimum placement depth.
