Abstract
The paper addresses itself to the question of the utility of military power in East-West relations from the perspectives of the United States and Soviet Union. The main theme centers on the evolving problem of utilizing military force as an instrument of foreign policy in the era of nuclear weaponry. Concluding remarks are focused on the speculative role for military force in the 1980's.
