Abstract
The paper provides an overview of the computer service industry in Canada. It describes the cost and technology factors affecting its rate of growth. Revenue sources are identified. Processing trends and software sources are reviewed. The impact of a shortage of programmers is discussed. The pattern of company mergers and information industry rationalization is briefly described. The concluding point is that specialization is the key to survival.
