Abstract
The note describes the results of a preliminary study to determine the reasons for making cost moves of Officer Personnel and the total number of cost moves required annually to satisfy these reasons. It concludes that an average of 3,639 cost moves is being made each year by DGPCO and that the effects of reducing the number would be undesirable if present policies are to be maintained; that it is possible to reduce the number of cost moves in any given year provided that the reduction is offset by an increase in subsequent years; and, that there may be a requirement to do further studies with respect to the frequency of cost moves necessary for "Professional Development" and with respect to the requirement to increase the level of unit and family stability.
