Abstract
The aim of this lecture is to consider the nature of Soviet strategy/military policy in the present phase of East-West relations, as far as we can detect it from our understanding of Soviet and Russian national traditions and goals, the ideological factor of Soviet communism and the part played by Super-Power status in formulating Soviet policies towards the outside world.
