Abstract
The study examines the Canadian naval force requirements during World War II. Particular emphasis is placed upon matters relating to the naval control of shipping, the naval officers in charge of various ports and defensive manning of merchant ships. A brief review of the conditions prior to World War II and at the beginning of the war is included.
