COMPUTER ANALYSIS OF THE SCREENING EFFECT OF TREE STRUCTURES ON BL-755 BOMBLETS

Abstract
The effectiveness of a small weapon, such as a BL-755 bomblet, can be somewhat reduced if the target object seeks out protection behind trees. The report investigates the screening properties of several generic tree types. Digital representations produced by the TWIG program form the analysis data base. The parameter of interest is the probability of the bomblet striking a branch, of given minimum diameter, as it passes through the tree. The effects of weapon incidence angle and weapon diameter are also addressed.
