Abstract
The report presents results obtained on the effects of elevated temperature, moisture content, thermal spike conditioning and delamination flaws on the compressive strength, stiffness and fatigue life of AS1/3501-6 graphite/epoxy composites. The laminate selected for study was a symmetric balanced quasi-isotropic layup (0, plus or minus 45, 90)s because of its application to the F-18 fighter wing skin panels. For comparison purposes, both the four-point sandwich beam and coupon compression IITRI-type methods were used.
