Abstract
The report is intended as a review of data on marine activity, when possible in terms of "lives at risk", to determine the balance of activity between various Canadian coastal regions. A secondary aim is to discuss potentially misleading aspects of the material and to provide an explanation of why it is so difficult to derive a single "activity index" for use in SAR planning.
