Abstract
The Canadian Forces (CF) are reviewing methods for evaluating the physical fitness of their personnel. The report reviews the acceptability of the Health and Welfare Canada Standard Test of Fitness as a method for evaluating the cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, muscular endurance and flexibility of a sample CF male population. The results from the 118 males indicate that some modifications are required in the methods and procedures used for evaluating cardiorespiratory fitness, and that adjustments are required in the standards developed for classifying the various fitness components of the individual. These modifications and adjustments are discussed.
