Abstract
The report provides graphical methods that can be used by aircraft maintenance personnel to calculate the number of spares needed to support a deployment. It explains the theory involved, presents illustrative computations and shows how the required data can be obtained from the Aircraft Maintenance Management Information System (AMMIS). A user's manual is included to facilitate implementation. The concepts are applicable to any equipment maintenance situation where repair is by replacement and repair of failed items is deferred. The concepts could be implemented in the air, land, sea and communications and electronics environments.
