Abstract
Methods for structuring, storing and presenting spatial information have not been given emphasis in the development of current command and control systems. The paper will describe the Interactive Spatial Information System (ISIS) project, whose purpose is both to study the Interaction of humans with spatial data for decision aiding and to provide models on which the operational spatial information systems can be based. The paper will outline the motivation behind the project, characteristics of an ideal ISIS, and our first implementation of a working spatial database management system that demonstrates some of these capabilities.
