Abstract
The project should be regarded as an extension to the DLR 5 sponsored project - L2064 Infantry Close Support Weapon. Previous work as reported under ORAE Project Report No. PR 248, established the need for a more suitable mortar for Canadian infantry. As requested by DLR 5 this project reviews and discusses current doctrine for crossing operations supported by the RT-61 120mm mortar, the assumed indirect fire weapon system of Canadian mechanized infantry battalions. Logistic implications pertaining to the ammunition resupply system of the 120mm mortar equipped mortar platoon are also discussed.
