PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A SUNDSTRAND Q-FLEX ACCELEROMETER

Abstract
The results of 1g static tests performed on a Sundstrand QA1100 Q-Flex accelerometer, are presented and discussed. The QA1100 is a dry, pendulous accelerometer that utilizes quartz flexures for the hinge suspension. The model equation for this type of accelerometer is derived from both theoretical and practical considerations. Experimental results indicate that repeatability, stability, and environmental sensitivities of instrument bias, scale factor, and misalignment all meet manufacturer's specifications as well as nominal requirements for 1 nm/hr overall navigation system accuracy. A brief description of the DREO accelerometer test facility is included, along with recommendations for future improvements.
