Abstract
The Medical Life Support Division (MLSD) was tasked in 1980 to identify the survival contents required for the CF188 Rigid Seat Survival Kit (RSSK) and devise requisite packing procedures. The survival contents were to reflect what the operators would like to see in the kit, in order of priority, with the CF one-man liferaft taking precedence over the CF lightweight sleeping bag. Further tasking on a priority basis has resulted in the MLSD development of a CF188 Global RSSK, containing a vacuum packed one-man liferaft, a pressure/vacuum packed arctic survival sleeping bag and CF survival equipment. (See Annex A.) The Northface CF600 sleeping bag, was selected as the only type which would meet the tasking requirement. One dynamic (airborne) deployment of the CF188 Global RSSK concept was successfully conducted in 1982, and another successful dynamic deployment was conducted during September 1983. TRUNCATED
