Abstract
The present study is an extension of the existing finite element program APES; Axisymmetric Plane Elastic Structures. This program uses twelve noded isoparametric elements with special singular elements at the crack tip. Only a few of these high order elements yield accurate stress and stress intensity results. The result of this investigation is the further development of APES into two FORTRAN 77 computer programs FAST1 and FAST2. These programs give a capability to do crack propagation analysis. (Fast is the acronym for Fracture Analysis of Structures.)
