Abstract
Methods were developed for the solubilization of spinal cord acetylcholinesterases from cows and sheep. Several characteristics of this preparation are reported, including the results of attempts at purification. A method for bovine enzyme achieved an 80-fold purification from the spinal cord homogenate. Compariosn studies with similar enzymes from other species and tissues may help elucidate the mechanism of organophosphate poisoning.
