Abstract
Canadian Forces personnel have been observed to pull their heads inside sleeping bags when sleeping in the cold although instructed not to do this. It has been found that, contrary to expert opinion, the amount of water vapour condensing in the bag did not seriously affect its insulation; however the composition of air that is breathed in the bag was found to be 3-4% CO2 and 16-17% O2.
