Abstract
A new concept in lightweight, insulated tent design is advanced which make use of common, industrially-available materials. The objective of the concept is to provide a simply-assembled, well-insulated cold weather shelter for a small number of occupants. The unique feature of the concept is the wall construction which provides thermal insulation and prevents extensive condensation accumulation. The tent surface area is kept small to minimize weight and packed volume. Heating and field observations of some full-scale prototypes are reported. Condensation tests in models and flammability tests of the walls are also examined.
