LIFE CYCLE COST ANALYSIS APPLICABLE TO THE 1976 5/4 TON TRUCK PURCHASE

Abstract
The study examines the 1976 buy of commercially patterned 1 1/4 ton trucks with a view to determining some of the advantages in using the DND Life Cycle Cost model and/or the multiplan spread sheet concept for project cost development and monitoring. The yearly cash flow is calculated using both models and these costs are compared to the actual costs incurred from the time the vehicles were purchased (1977) to the end of 1984. The cost data were developed to provide a base case for calculating the expected life cycle costs that will be associated with the 1 1/4 ton truck replacement in 1992.
