Abstract
The report presents the results of a series of 406 MHz Emergency Position Indicating Radiobeacon (EPIRB) experiments conducted by the Coast Guard in 1984, with the support of DREO and other organizations during the Demonstration and Evaluation (D&E) phase of the COSPAS/SARSAT system. The philosophy adopted in the design of the experiments was to assess the performance of the 406 MHz COSPAS/SARSAT system under a variety of operational circumstances which would provide useful information to the Coast Guard and the potential EPIRB user.
