Abstract
A polarization selective surface is one which passes one sense of polarization with little attenuation and reflects the other sense of polarization. Use has been made for some time of such linearly polarized surfaces in polarization twist reflectors in order to achieve rapid wide angle scanning and to reduce the aperture blockage in Cassegrain reflector antennas. The present report describes a surface which transmits one sense of circular polarization while reflecting the other sense. There is no reversal of the sense of polarization upon reflection from the surface as there is when a perfectly conducting reflector is used.
