Abstract
The finite element program for thermal analysis, TYPESET, was used to model the slow cookoff of a new 57-mm shell filled with the plastic-bonded explosive C.-84A. In spite of some gross approximations for the thermal parameters and reaction kinetics, a good estimate of the time to reaction was obtained.
