Abstract
A simple model for the structure constant of atmospheric refractive index fluctuations (Cn2) and inner scale (Io) valid for the lowest few hundred metres above land is presented. The inputs to the model are standard meteorological parameters plus solar irradiance and parameters characteristic of the local terrain. Results are compared with measurements of Cn2 and Io made with a displaced-beam scintillometer. These results show that the model can predict atmospheric turbulence with good accuracy during daytime.
