Abstract
The Directorate of Logistics Analysis (D Log A) has developed a new computer program known as the LOGistics ANalyzer (LOGAN) that integrates three Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) functions; sparing, level of repair analysis, and life cycle costing under a single shell. The level of repair (LORA) Module is designed to determine the most cost-effective maintenance policy for each Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) of a piece of equipment. The Module examines the costs of labour, training, contractor repair, transportation, inventory, and documentation for every disassembly and repair option possible within the specified capability of the Maintenance Organization before selecting the optimal maintenance policy for the LRU and its subcomponents. The primary objective of this document is to provide an operational description of the LORA Module so that a user can apply it to typical level-of-repair problems. The methodology, assumptions, and limitations of the Module are described followed by detailed explanations of the input parameters, screens and output reports. A tutorial is provided for the novice user, and numerous examples are provided.
