Abstract
The Directorate of Logistics Analysis (D Log A) has developed a new computer program known as the LOGistics ANalyzer (LOGAN) that integrates three Logistic Support Analysis (LSA) functions; sparing, level of repair analysis, and life cycle costing under a single shell. The LCC Module of this program is primarily designed to determine the life cycle cost of a piece of equipment. The costs for Research and Development, Acquisition, In-Service, and Disposal are considered with particular emphasis being placed on the support activity costs during the In-Service stage as these recur over a sustained period. The LCC Module is a generalized model designed to conduct engineering-oriented life cycle cost studies on a piece of equipment situated at one or more locations supported by a maintenance organization. The objective of this document is to provide an operational description of the LCC Module so that a user can apply the Module to typical life cycle costing problems. The methodology, assumptions, and limitations of the Module are described followed by detailed explanations of the input parameters, screens, and output reports. Examples and a tutorial are provided for the novice user.
