Abstract
A two-element liquid crystal tunable filter was developed to cover a portion of the near-infrared spectrum. Experimental results on the synchronization of the Lyot stage with the Fabry-Perot element are presented in this report. The two components were first characterized individually under constant voltage excitation before the final filter assembly was measured in scanning mode. The parameters of the filter that were evaluated include the free-spectral range, bandwidth, peak transmittance and field of view. The observed performance is compared with initial specifications and the application of this technology to warning systems is examined.
