Abstract
The problem of planning for waves of issues at the Consolidated depot in Montreal was investigated with a view toward more effective assignment of materiel sliding from the Kubernetic train into issues chutes. Data from 1994 issues were examined to estimate quantities by client and priority. An algorithm is presented that determines an appropriate way of assigning materiel to chutes. On the basis of the 1994 data, a waves plan is proposed. A computer program is provided (corresponding to the algorithm) which can be used for improving the issue process at the depot.
