Abstract
A review of the Muzzle Blast Simulator (MBS) is presented along with a critical assessment of the available hardware and software. The analysis identifies the reasons for the current situation of the MBS project and pinpoints specific problem areas: custom and non-conventional hardware, system identification model and transfer function of the simulator facility, a deconvolution and waveform conditioning algorithms. The study proposes solutions to solve the critical hardware and software issues, and submits a preliminary design for a new MBS system. A cost-benefit analysis and recommendation to commit the necessary resources for the pursuit and completion of the MBS System completes the study.
