Abstract
A reliable plaque assay system for avirulent strains of Newcastle Disease Virus (eg. Type B1, LaSota strain used in vaccines and at DRES as a viral BW simulant) utilizing a continuous monkey kidney cell line (LLC-MK sub 2) is described. The use of a continuous cell line eliminates the added time and inconvenience of preparing primary cell cultures (eg. chick embryo fibroblasts) to quantitate the number of infectious virus particles.
