Abstract
The Integrated Tactical Air Picture (ITAP) project is designed to demonstrate the capability of advanced computing technology in the generation of air pictures to support Air Force deployed operations. ITAP software developed in this project can display real radar data, process automatic target detection and tracking, and generate various radar maps such as short-range and long-range shadow maps and simulated ground clutter maps. It could record live data and process tracking in real time if an appropriate interface is used to collect the radar data. The document begins with a description of the project background and the software development environment, followed by an overview of ITAP software's high level structure and the data and functional requirements. The rest of the document describes the functionality in final ITAP software developed from this project. ITAP software is built on top of the Radar Analysis Program (RAP), legacy software developed by the US Air Force at Rome Labs. RAP can record, filter and display radar data from any NORAD Sector Operations Control Centre (SOCC). Two extra modules are added to RAP to fulfill the ITAP functional requirements: the Radar Map Generator module and the Tracker Module.
