Abstract
The HFE Guide III is a DCIEM-sponsored HyperCard application featuring MIL-STD-1472D and NATO STANAGs. The purpose of this report is to examine how to make this Macintosh OS program accessible to IBM-OS users. Content is available through existing versions of the HFE Guide and through authorities at USDOD Redstone Aersenal who are completing a word-processed version to be identified as "1472E", production of CAD pictorials, and, as a restort deemed feasible in light of present computer and storage strengths, as high-quality hardcopy originals to be scanned. The software environment deemed best for cross-platform use in Folio, a widely used, well-supported, full-featured database set of programs with excellent search capability. Because of the current availability of fast CPUs, large RAMs and large capacity and fast access storage, multiple DCIEM projects can be issued on CD- or DVD-ROMs using separate programs and shared files, and be an effective solution for both Macintosh and IBM-compatible users.
