Abstract
In the report a forecasting model for voluntary attrition is proposed. The model is based on a general time series method known as the Transfer Function model which includes regression and econometric models as special cases. The model used annual voluntary attrition data on officers and NCMs for the period 1974 to 1992. The seven year interval forecasts based on the model indicate that transfer function models provide a better forecasting and explanatory capability than time series or econometric models. The report also presents areas and strategies for future studies in attrition modelling.
