Abstract
LOCATE is a computer-aided design tool used to assess the effectiveness of workspace layouts involving multiple workstations and operators. LOCATE computes the overall efficiency of communication links in the visual, auditory, tactical and movement domains. The report deals with the continuing development of the graphic user interface of LOCATE. The primary objectives of the current work were: (1) to add an interface between LOCATE and other CAD packages such as AutoCAD; (2) add standard editing features such as cut, copy, paste and duplicate; (3) add workspace boundary tools for walls doors and windows; (4) allow generic objects such as chairs desks, cabinets to be saved with other workspace attributes for the later retrieval; (5) add capabilities for multiple selection and grouping, and (6) a variety of minor refinements to the interface.
