Abstract
A preliminary engineering design for an end wave eliminator for the DRES 1.8 m blast tube has been prepared. The chosen design, called a conical plug, is a passive type device, but is adaptable to active control should this be required. It is anticipated that the device will be mounted on a railway flatcar to allow roll-away access to the interior of the tube. The report outlines the background study on end wave elimination and documents the proposed design and reasons for the design choice. Preliminary engineering drawings are also provided, along with the results of a numerical study of end wave eliminators performed under subcontract by AERCOL.
