Abstract
The document is a guide for using the Windows 95 version of the computer program VIBRO, an implementation of theoretical models presented in the DREA Report "Computational Evaluation of Decoupling and Damping Materials", DREA CR/96/427. This code allows the vibroacoustic response of a baffled, rectangular plate immersed in a heavy fluid on one side to be calculated, either with or without a noise reduction coating. The plate may be treated by four types of noise reduction coatings: a free viscoelastic material, a constrained viscoelastic material (sandwich plate), a decoupling material, or a sandwich plate covered by a decoupling layer. The execution speed was increased by using frequency interpolation of the radiation impedance matrix, which is a smooth function of frequency. In addition to describing the options available for VIBRO and the structure of the input and output files, this report presents algorithms used for the main types of calculations available in the program. This version of VIBRO differs from the original version in several ways: (1) the program allows a frequency dependent Poisson's ratio for the viscoelastic layer; (2) the program runs in the Windows 95 operating system, which allows higher frequency calculations to be carried out; and (3) the program calculates the global loss factor (for damped plates) and the insertion loss, which are indicators of performance for the coatings.
