Abstract
Data on the Department of National Defence (DND) fleet of vehicles were analysed from the point of view of performance analysis. The report identifies productivity measures in fleet management. These measures are applied to actual data and their validity, accuracy, and completeness as a set of measures are discussed. Utilisation measures were evaluated and showed that the DND fleet performs better than the industry for some commercial-like vehicles such as station wagons and highway tractors. The performance of light trucks however is below industry average. It was also noted that the median base transportation section has about two drivers for every support individual. Improvements need to be made on the quality of the information gathered and the way it is compiled.
