Abstract
NATO conceptualizes the use of multi-national forces in the 1990s and beyond having improved capabilities in the 1990s and beyond having improved capabilities for mobility, flexibility and rapid augmentation. A high level of situation awareness is envisioned, command and control will increase in importance, and the use of information processing technologies will be paramount for enhancing pilot performance. All of these conditions are dependen ton the provision of optimal neurological performance by conscientious air and support crew. Accordingly, a full understanding is required of the functions and limitations of the brain in order to conduct effective performances under different operational conditions.
