Abstract
The phase 1A report is a literature and industry review of applied research and of current technologies that has been accumulated on the advances of in commercial and military tent systems. For the purposes of this report, 'tent systems' will refer to the equipment that is used for cold weather operations in the Canadian Forces including: tents, stoves, sleeping systems, load carriage (toboggan) cooking and lighting equipment. Current technologies were reviewed and compared to items that are currently in-service with the Canadian Forces. The authors have provided an analysis of deficiencies and proposed recommendations for future equipment selection criteria. The information contained in this report was obtained from a variety of foreign and national commercial and military sources.
