Abstract
Following the closure of DREP, all research and development activity in the area of aircraft structures and materials has been conducted under the auspices of the Air Vehicles Research Detachment (AVRD) which has co-located with the National Research Council's Institute for Aerospace Research. This presentation will describe the scope of the R&D activities that have been performed or sponsored by AVRD since its inception in April 1995. Due to time limitations, it will not be possible to describe in complete detail each of the activities currently under way, however, brief descriptions of several projects will be described. It will be the intent to illustrate air-related activities in the context of general materials science with the potential for future collaboration between the marine and air materials programs within CRAD.
