Abstract
This document presents a detailed hardware and operational description of the Side-Lobe Canceller (SLC) Array. This array is one of two eight element arrays in the Experimental Array Radar System (EARS). It has eight standard gain horns oriented in a horizontal line using horizontal polarization. This report presents a short description of the EARS and how the SLC array is used in the system. The SLC is described in detail, beginning with a general description and continuing with more detailed information. This document was prepared under task 6.3 of contract number W7714-5-9868. A major re-build of the array was done in early 1995, without documentation. The two original documents covering the SLC array have been used as the basis for this document, with updates. A related document has been prepared covering the Calibration Control Mechanism (CCM). This is a frame with four radiators on it that is used to calibrate the SLC array, located immediately in front of the SLC array. The array horns are mounted on the rear of the CCM frame and the remainder of the array is mounted on a large plate which is located near the top of the front end platform equipment rack.
