Abstract
This study addresses reviews progress to date on the design of an interface for a proposed new obstacle warning system for Canadian Forces' helicopters. Several design issues are identified which should be investigated experimentally. These include what style of Warning should be used; what characteristics should be warning have; what is an acceptable false alarm rate for the system, and Does three-dimensional audio present a significant warning time advantage. These questions, and others, are discussed, and Several experimental designs are proposed for use with specific Canadian Forces' facilities.
