Abstract
A Differential Global Positioning System will be installed into EARS: one GPS (the fixed GPS) will reside inside EARS and will indicate the position of the radar; the other GPS (the mobile GPS) will be located beside a radar target during trials during trials and will provide position of the mobile target. The purpose of the Differential GPS is to measure and record the location, in both time and space domains, of the radar target during EARS' trials. This information can be used afterwards, along with the collected data, to relate the time with the position of the target, and ultimately to evaluate the performances of the radar algorithms. This document describes the architecture of the Differential Global Positioning System (Differential GPS) to be used in the Data Logger and Control System (DLCS) of the Experimental Array Radar System (EARS) project. The document includes a high-level description of the system operation, the hardware components and the software programs.
