Abstract
This report determines if the language designation of units meets the language requirements of their geographical location to confirm compliance with the Official Languages Act (OLA). It is the first step in a study aimed at updating the Defence Official Languages Model to reach stated program goals and closest possible alignment with the OLA while meeting the CF operational requirements. The report shows that some 75 units, representing a total of 12 952 regular force/civilian positions, dot not have a language of work the one identified for their region. 523 units (70 143 positions) have the language of work of their region. Another 154 (20 522 positions) are bilingual units outside bilingual regions.
