Abstract
This research note presents a review of the current sources of unit level, activity-related, data and information followed by an assessment of the Information Technology Architecture which is currently in place in the Canadian Forces' Maritime Command to support the capturing, transportation and transformation of activity-related data and information. It finds that this Information Technology Architecture is unsuited for the Department of National Defence's projected, activity-based, performance measurement needs. To improve this situation this research note recommends that a systems analysis based information Audit be conducted followed by the development and implementation of an activity-related database management system.
